SHAH ALAM, July 19 — A total of 17 per cent or 31 out of 180 participants from Akademi Kepimpinan Wanita (AKW) have managed to gain positions in important government organisations.
Wanita Berdaya Selangor chief executive officer Hidayah Ramli said they include council members, leaders of political organisations, and NGO leaders.
She said the primary goal of the AKW programme is to produce more women leaders on all levels of decision-making.
"AKW is implemented to strengthen skills and act as a talent pipeline to produce more women leaders in the field of politics and social work.
"This is also based on the fourth goal of the Selangor Women's Policy, which aims to accelerate the participation, representation, and decision-making of women in public and political life in the state," Hidayah said.
Since its launch in 2019, AKW has successfully implemented three cohorts, with Cohorts One and Two producing a total of 180 participants, who are also alumni.
For Cohort Three, 121 participants were selected to undergo the learning program (a year and three months), and are expected to graduate in October 2023.
