SHAH ALAM, July 7 – The Selangor government has distributed RM26.5 million in aid to 988 educational institutions, including national schools, this year, marking the highest figure in 14 years, announced Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said the initiative, which began in 2009 with an initial fund of RM6.4 million, aims to foster a healthy environment for teachers and students.

He said RM260 million has been contributed to these institutions since 2009, with an additional allocation of RM25 million provided last year.

Notably, this is the first time national schools in the state have received the aid.

“Every year, we have consistently contributed to schools in Selangor, and I hope it can make a difference to some extent.

“The substantial amount of aid and the large number of school beneficiaries reflect Pakatan Harapan’s commitment to prioritising the education agenda for Selangor’s children,” he said during the handover of the Selangor State School Assistance Programme 2023 at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre here today.

For Selangor’s Budget 2023, Amirudin announced the continuation of the state’s assistance programme with an additional allocation of RM26.5 million.

The additional funding took into account the increasing number of aid applications and the growing needs of schools, including those affected by floods.
