KLANG, June 22 — Selangor Social Security Organisation (Socso) has urged women in the state to register for the Housewives Social Security Scheme (SKSSR).

Its director, Ismail Abi Hashim, stated that so far, only 3,000 housewives have registered for the scheme, compared to the target of 80,000 women for this year.

“Currently, we only have 3,000 women in Selangor registered for this new scheme.

“We encourage those who have not contributed yet to come and register, either in person or online, or husbands can help with the registration,” he said when met after visiting and delivering a contribution from Socso to Muhamad Daniel Musa, 22, who became permanently disabled due to a road accident in Kampung Parit Mahang, here on Monday.

SKSSR is aimed at providing social security protection to housewives against domestic accidents and invalidity while managing the household.

The scheme is open to women aged 55 and above, either married or not and managing a household full-time or not, including wives, divorcees or widows, single mothers or single women with career or full-time housewives, with a contribution of RM120 for a period of 12 months, to be paid in advance.

Applications have been open since December 1, 2022. For more information, visit the official Socso website at www.perkeso.gov.my or contact its customer service hotline at 1-300-22-8000.
