KLANG, May 5 — The Selangor Social Security Organisation (Socso) is looking to register 18,000 women for its Housewives' Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) by the year's end.
Its director Ismail Abi Hashim said at present about 6,000 housewives in the state have registered with the scheme, which began on December 1 last year.
"We are still continuing our efforts in meeting community leaders, to ensure more women are registered and can contribute to this scheme.
"This is one of the best incentives, and is a protection for any domestic accident, especially when managing the household," he said.

SKSSR provides protection to housewives through permanent disability benefits, medical and rehabilitation benefits, old-age allowance, dialysis assistance, survivor's pension, and remains management.
It is open to women under 55 who can be either employed or unemployed, as well as married or single individuals, with a contribution of RM120 for a period of 12 months, which is paid in advance.
