PETALING JAYA, June 7 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has achieved 25 per cent or 97.2 square kilometres of green space within its administrative area.

Its mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said the achievement is a great success for the local authority as Petaling Jaya is a rapidly developing city.

“Petaling Jaya is a progressive city, rapidly growing, but we have managed to maintain green areas in our development planning.

“This effort is in line with MBPJ's goal of becoming a low-carbon city based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 10 themes under the Petaling Jaya Smart, Sustainable, and Resilient 2030 Plan (PJSSR2030),” he said at the Petaling Jaya Landscape Master Plan (PiLAN PJ) book launch at The Spine @ PJKita in Jalan SS7/15, here yesterday.

On March 26 last year, Mohamad Azhan announced a sustainable development involving 10 themes to ensure future well-being through PJSSR2030.

It focuses on aspects of a smart, inclusive, low-carbon, child-friendly and learning city, and targets urban poor, entrepreneurship initiatives, and digitalisation.

The plan also involves the development of a city with rapid economic growth, a circular economy, community 5.0, and a safe and resilient city with e-administration.
