PETALING JAYA, June 7 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has launched the Petaling Jaya Landscape Master Plan (PiLAN PJ) book, here yesterday.
Its mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said that PiLAN PJ is a comprehensive long-term landscape planning and action plan document for Petaling Jaya for a period of five years.
“This book is a manifestation of our commitment to creating a beautiful, comfortable, safe, and prosperous environment in Petaling Jaya.
“It outlines proposals in the form of policies, strategies, control methods, and implementation guidelines for landscape projects suitable for the development of this city.
“It is based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG17) and the 10 themes under the Petaling Jaya Smart, Sustainable and Resilient City 2030 (PJSSR 2030),” he said at a press conference after the PiLAN PJ launch at The Spine @ PJKita in Jalan SS7/15, Kelana Jaya, here.
Mohamad Azhan said that PiLAN PJ, consisting of two main volumes, includes guidelines to ensure that landscape development in the city aligns with sustainable development goals and conserves the natural environment.
“We hope this book becomes the main reference for all stakeholders and industry players in planning and implementing development projects.
“PiLAN PJ would also be able to strengthen the landscape industry by promoting the use of local plants.
“In addition to creating job opportunities, it also focuses on the maintenance of green areas, the preservation of ecosystems, and biodiversity diversity, which will ensure the preservation of natural heritage for the benefit of future generations,” he said.
