SHAH ALAM, June 4 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to hit five Selangor districts until 1pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a warning issued at 8.45am on Facebook, the agency said that inclement weather is forecasted in Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang, as well as Putrajaya.
“Other states to see similar stormy weather Kedah (Yan and Kuala Muda), Penang, Perak (Kerian), Pahang (Raub, Temerloh, and Maran).
“The weather forecast is also expected in Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, and Rembau), Melaka, Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru) and Sarawak: Betong (Kabong), Sarikei (Sarikei), and Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro),” it said.
MetMalaysia issues warnings when there are indications of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm that is likely to occur for about an hour or longer.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid within a period not exceeding six hours for each issuance.
