HULU LANGAT, May 6 — The Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri open house for Hulu Langat proved to be a delight with the locals, as nearly 10,000 visitors descended to sample its culinary offerings and chat with one another.
Pensioner S. Sandrasegan, 63, said asides from the delicious food, he was also pleased with the decoration for the open house, held at the Agora Night Market site in Taman Sri Nanding yesterday.

"I am accustomed to going for open houses organised by my Muslim friends, so this in of itself is not new.
"But I was excited to learn how the state government organised this, as I have never attended an open house on this scale, with beautiful decorations and delicious food," he told SelangorKini.
Running from 8pm to 11pm, a variety of dishes at 13 stalls were served during the event, with satay and grilled lamb as the main crowd drawers.
Other dishes included cakoi, laksa, lemang, rendang, cordial drinks, nasi minyak, soto ayam, keropok lekor, apam balik, and pisang goreng.

Meanwhile, a housewife from Perak said she did not miss the opportunity to attend the open house, after spending Aidilfitri at her brother's home in Dusun Tua.
Siti Noor Aishah Shuib, 42, said she and her family from Parit Buntar arrived at her brother's house, to celebrate at another relative's house in Selangor.
"My brother invited us as a family to go for a 'big meal' at the state government's open house. Those of us who have never attended such a programme in Selangor decided to stop by and see for ourselves the excitement of the celebration.
"I must say, when I arrived it was quite lively and enjoyable, with various dishes prepared, even as one must queue to take food," she said.

Similarly, another housewife, Norzati Mohamad, 47, said she attended the open house with her friends from aerobics classes.
"When I learned of the open house, we decided to attend it together. Programmes like this is capable of gathering all the residents in celebrating Aidilfitri, even if you have to wait for a table to open up and to get food," she said.
