SHAH ALAM, Feb 21 — The Menu Rahmah initiative introduced by the Federal government will be expanded on the state level, to benefit Selangor residents, said state executive councillor for agricultural-based industry Izham Hashim.

He said discussions have been held with the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (MAFS) as well as the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN), to implement the initiative.

"I have met with (MAFS Minister) Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and (KPDN Minister) Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub to coordinate Rahmah Menu, so it can be expanded on the state government level.

"The Menu Rahmah is a sustainable project, in spite of little profits, when compared to providing the public with momentary subsidies," Izham said when contacted.

Simultaneously, the councillor also encouraged Selangor's local authorities to participate in selling Menu Rahmah.

"We encourage every local authority to sell Menu Rahmah, as it benefits many and is capable of reducing living costs," he said.

The Federal government's recent introduction of Menu Rahmah, with meals priced at RM5 and below, is aimed at the hardcore poor.
