Selangor requests funds to repair low-cost homes for comfort of residents

KLANG, Feb 19 — Selangor is requesting for federal government allocations to refurbish the facilities and infrastructure of low-cost apartments in the state.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said most of the residences in that category were built in the early 1970s and 1980s, causing the condition to no longer offer comfort.

"Yesterday, I was with the prime minister, praying in Sepang. One of the important issues I raised was about low-cost houses. Usually about maintenance including water, electricity and utilities.

"I requested for special funds from the federal government to ensure the comfort of the residents in these low-cost apartments," he said when met at a press conference after launching the Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang programme at Pangsapuri Seri Perantau, here yesterday.

Previously, Amirudin and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim performed Friday prayers with about 3,000 worshipers at the Taman Putra Perdana Mosque, Sepang.

Before that, the two leaders enjoyed lunch at the Taman Putra Perdana hawker center, which is located 1.1 kilometers from the mosque.
