SHAH ALAM, Jan 18 — Chinese residents living in Bandar Utama state constituency can still apply for the Chinese New Year Jom Shopping vouchers until tomorrow.
Its state representative Jamaliah Jamaluddin said so far, her team has received 156 applications and of that number, 133 recipients have redeemed the vouchers.
"We are opening this application until tomorrow. Individuals who are interested and meet the requirements can apply online or come directly to the Bandar Utama state constituency community service center.
"The number of applications have decreased somewhat because residents who have already received the Skim Mesra Usia Emas vouchers can no longer apply for this festival vouchers,” she said when contacted.
According to her, recipients of the RM200 Chinese New Year Jpm Shopping voucher can shop at Pasaraya Giant Kelana Jaya.
"I hope that these vouchers can lighten the burden of the recipients and give them excitement in preparing for the Chinese New Year celebration later," she said.
The state government allocated RM16.48 million for the Jom Shopping voucher programme in conjunction with various festivals which benefited 82,400 recipients.
The donation was carried out in conjunction with three main festivals, namely, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Deepavali to ease the burden of families who are less fortunate to prepare for the festivals.
