KAJANG, Dec 29 — The construction of the Shun Nam Gong Temple is in compliance with the conditions of the original plan which were approved by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj).

MPKj Zone 15 councillor Ong Seng Peng said the council is satisfied with the temple construction project, but said its drainage system should be improved.

"As a result of today's visit with the temple management and representatives of MPKj's Engineering Department, the council is satisfied thus far with what has been done, as it is in accordance with the conditions.

"Only a few matters need to be rectified, namely the drainage. To this, we have requested the temple authorities make the necessary corrections so everything is in line with the original plan, as approved by the council," he said.

Earlier today, Ong and the MPKj Engineering Department visited the temple's construction site, in the wake of complaints from residents who claimed the construction was not being carried out in accordance with the specifications.

The councillor said they will ensure the temple management complies with the original plan, thereby allaying residents' concerns over a worsening of the flooding risks after the construction has been completed.

"During the approval stage, various agencies were involved. This is indeed a flood area and unplanned, but the temple was built according to the council plan and was approved.

"So we will ensure it follows the council's specifications, like the drainage plan," he said.
