KLANG, Dec 17 — Dengue outbreaks in the district have increased to 5,747 cases in the 49th Epidemiological Week (ME) from December 4 to December 10, compared to the same period last year.

Klang Municipal Council (MPK) President Noraini Roslan said dengue cases stood at 3,000 individuals last year, but have increased with the majority involving cases at home.

"Among the state constituencies which recorded the highest number of cases were Sentosa with 1,192 cases, Kota Kemuning (1,086), Sungai Kandis (663) and Sementa (505)," she said at the 2022 Low-Carbon City Appreciation Programme yesterday.

Noraini also advised the public to clean their homes to avoid further outbreaks.

"The public cannot wholly rely on the local authorities to ensure dengue cases are reduced.

"Take preventive steps including cleaning your home and ensuring no stagnant water remains, especially in the outdoor areas of the house," she said.

Earlier on, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said five deaths due to dengue fever complications occurred in ME49, involving two cases in Perak and one case each in Selangor, Johor and Sarawak.
