HULU KLANG, Nov 3 — The Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS) is to be offered to the Year Six students beginning next year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the free extra class initiative has successfully benefitted 20,000 pupils from low-income (B40) households.

“Education is important to society so we initiated this (programme). We spend RM6 million (every year) and allocated another RM1 million this year for lunch meals.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise God), the implementation was a success in each state constituency, which is attended by a maximum of 200 students. InsyaAllah (God willing), next year, we will extend the programme for Year Six students,” he said in a speech at Skate Park AU5, here on Tuesday.

On November 26 last year, Amirudin had announced an allocation of RM7 million for the PTRS programmed in the 2022 Selangor Budget.

He said the allocation will be used to strengthen the content of the ePTRS.my portal and find the best teachers to impart their knowledge.

Meanwhile, Amirudin explained that the Selangor government is always at the forefront in developing a knowledgeable society.

“We are not interested in doing populist work because we want to develop the community with the right spirit and mind.

“(We don’t want them to) idolise one or two leaders who feel as if they can solve all problems but don’t discuss it as a policy,” he added.
