KUALA LANGAT, Oct 27 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced the launching of the GS Paperboard and Packaging Sdn Bhd’s (GSPP) Paper Machine 3 (PM3) paper factory, owned by Oji Holdings Corporation.

The Sultan's arrival at the factory in Tanjung 12 mukim was accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Also in attendance were Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, state executive councillor for investment Dato' Teng Chang Khim, state executive councillor for rural development Borhan Aman Shah, and Oji Holdings group chief executive officer Hiroyuki Isono.

His Royal Highness spent 20 minutes visiting the display room showcasing the company's products, which include boxes, shelves, battery chargers, old cartons, and disposable diapers.

Sultan Sharafuddin also visited the paper manufacturing factory, equipped with the latest technology, as well as the integrated power plant, raw water intake, and processing plant.

Although the factory's construction was completed on November 15 last year, the facility provided packaging services for paper rolls on September 30, while commercial production began on April 1 this year.

The RM1.2 billion project offers local packaging facilities of consistent quality and a fast supply of finished products to clients.

An extensive local and international waste paper collection network ensures that GSPP will have sufficient raw materials to meet consumer demands.
