SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) is ready to deploy its 1,100 machinery assets throughout Selangor in case major floods take place in November.

Harian Metro reported its Corporate Services senior general manager Ahmad Rizal Mohd Daud as saying that all its machinery including compactor lorries are ready to be sent to any flooded areas in the state, especially in Taman Sri Muda, Section 25 here.

"All KDEBWM lorries will be deployed to the locations of the floods to carry out waste collection work as well as check the drainages for blockage.

"It does not include excavators which will also be used through with cooperation from the local councils," he said.

Ahmad Rizal said this during a press conference after a tree planting by KDEBWM with Selangor Inland Revenue Board (IRB) and the Selangor State Forestry Department (JPNS) at the Kuala Bernam Forest Reserve, Teluk Rhu, Sungai Apong, Sabak Bernam, yesterday.

So far, he said, KDEBWM has checked and cleared all drains and ditches that are blocked by garbage.

He said they are also working with the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) to obtain the latest developments on the flood situation in Selangor.

Previously, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicted that the country would experience continuous heavy rain starting in mid-November, leading to major floods.
