SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 — The Medan Selera Batu Laut food court in Kuala Langat has been selected to represent Selangor in this year's National-Level Clean, Safe and Healthy Food Court Award, said state executive councillor for culture and heritage Borhan Aman Shah.

He said the premise, under the Kuala Langat Municipal Council, was among five food courts from all over the country that have been evaluated. The others are in Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Penang.

"Medan Selera Batu Laut is formerly the winning food court under the local authorities on the state level. We were excited when informed the food court in Tanjong Sepat will represent Selangor.

"Four jury panels were in attendance to evaluate Medan Selera Batu Laut yesterday, with the winner expected to be announced sometime next month," Borhan said.

Yesterday, the councillor who is also Tanjong Sepat state assemblyman, welcomed the arrival of the four jury panels who visited and evaluated the food court as a whole.

He added that Medan Selera Batu Laut was originally a derelict and abandoned building, which was subsequently rebuilt for its visitors' comfort in 2020.

"I feel the food court needs to be developed and beautified for visitors, given its proximity to Pantai Batu Laut.

"12 shops in this food court sell various dishes including rojak paru, mi udang galah, sup utara and kampung food," Borhan said.
