SHAH ALAM, August 4 — The state government has awarded convertible education loans to 21 Selangor students amounting to a total expenditure of RM500,000 for this year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the full loans can be converted into full scholarships after the students obtain a first-class bachelor's degree.

"This is a show of support by the state government for the education sector. Yayasan Selangor is also pleased to help continue producing more outstanding students," he said in a video on Facebook today.

The Sungai Tua state assemblyman said his administration prioritises education in order to create a knowledgeable and excellent society, and ensuring a better future for all.

To this, eight incentive programmes have been outlined in the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) initiative to empower early childhood education.

The programmes include the People’s Tutoring Programme (Pusat Tuisyen Rakyat), Iltizam Mahasiswa Selangor, Peduli Siswa, the Selangor School Aid, and the Smart Selangor Technical and Professional Skills Initiative (Inisiatif Kemahiran Teknikal and Ikhtisas Smart Selangor or Iktisass).

Other initiatives included are the Anakku Pintar Childcare Assistance Scheme (Skim Bantuan Asuhan Anakku Pintar or Asuh Pintar), the Selangor Kindergarten Assistance Scheme (Skim Bantuan Tadika Selangor or Tunas) and the Selangor Basic Technology Loan Scheme (Skim Pinjaman Teknologi Asas Selangor or Sepintas).

On Sunday, during the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow in Gombak, Amirudin presented Yayasan Selangor full scholarships to 10 outstanding students.
