Selangor Saring a good initiative, early preventive measure against serious diseases

SHAH ALAM, July 17 — The Selangor Saring programme is regarded as a good initiative for the people in terms of an early prevention measure against any type of serious diseases.

Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib said to increase public understanding of the value of public health care, the initiative should be continued.

“More than 500 people of all ages attended the Selangor Saring event today and this shows that the public is starting to understand how important health care is.

“The majority of individuals present also welcomed the initiative and hoped it would be continued periodically,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

The free health screening programme in Hulu Kelang was held from 9am to 3pm at the MPAJ AU2 Hall in Taman Seri Keramat, here today.

The same programme was also held at Dewan Sri Siantan in Jalan Sungai Tua, Taman Selayang for Taman Templer.

Its state representative Sany Hamzan said the session was attended by more than 200 people of all ages and races.

“The initiative demonstrates the Selangor government’s concern for the people and its commitment to maintaining their health and well-being,” he said.

The state government has allocated RM3.4 million for the success of Selangor Saring which will benefit 39,000 residents, especially individuals with a history of family medicine, obesity and unhealthy lifestyle.

The programme, which runs until September 4, offers prostate, ocular, cervical, and breast cancer screenings, as well as occult or colorectal faecal blood testing.
