PORT KLANG, July 15 — Ben Daud Industries Sdn Bhd plans to be a leading meat distributor in the Klang Valley within the next five years with the opening of its first frozen warehouse in Pendamar, Klang.
Director Wan Muhd Hisham Wan Hawari said Ben Daud had managed to import its first halal meat from India brought in a 28-tonne container in March.
“We have received good response from wholesalers in several states and the company expects to import another container in a month or two,” he told reporters after the official opening of the warehouse by Zahari Kechik, the political secretary to the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, here last night.
Wan Muhd Hisham said that for next year, the focus would be on operations in Selangor by providing an online sales platform through Seldec and opening up opportunities to those interested in becoming franchisees.
“Our target for next year is that every district in Selangor will have two to three people becoming Ben Daud franchisees given the vast potential for the market in the state,” he said.
He said the Ben Daud franchise scheme requires a low capital of RM100,000 to RM150,000 with an expected return on investment within four to five years.
Ben Daud was established in March 2016 to be a Bumiputera wholesaler and retailer in the frozen industry and last year Selmedia Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Selangor Industrial Corp Sdn Bhd became the majority shareholder of Ben Daud with 70 per cent.
