SHAH ALAM, June 21 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong wind are expected to hit three Selangor districts namely Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat until 7pm today.
In a warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 4.05pm, the agency said similar weather conditions are also expected in Pahang (Bentong and Bera) as well as Kuala Lumpur.
“Other states and areas which will also experience strong weather include Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu and Jempol), Sarawak (Limbang) and Sabah (Telupid, Beluran and Sandakan)” MetMalaysia said.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
