SHAH ALAM, June 11 — Six of Selangor's districts will undergo heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until this evening, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a statement issued at 2.35pm, the agency said the affected districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
"Other states and areas which will see inclement weather include Perlis, Putrajaya, as well as Besut and Hulu Terengganu in Terengganu.
"Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) along with Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Raub, Bentong, Bera and Rompin) will also be affected," it said.
Negeri Sembilan (Kuala Pilah and Jempol) Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat and Mersing) and Sarawak including Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian (Serian), Samarahan, Betong and Bintulu (Tatau and Bintulu) will also see strong weather.
The weather is expected to persist until 6pm.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
