MB encourages public support for SMK Kampong Jawa nomination for World’s Best School Awards

SHAH ALAM, June 10 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has called on the public to support Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kampong Jawa in Klang, which was shortlisted for the World’s Best School Awards.

He said the enthusiasm shown by the students and teachers at the secondary school managed to impress the jury and be nominated as one of the 10 best candidates in the ‘Addressing Challenges’ category.

“The spirit and determination in education and learning shown by the students as well as teachers at SMK Kampong Jawa in Klang has attracted the attention of the jury for the World's Best School Awards.

"Let us give our support to SMK Kampong Jawa and pray that they will succeed," he said in a Facebook post.

In a statement today, T4 Education said the awards, which were launched this year in collaboration with the Yayasan Hasanah, Templeton World Charity Foundation, Accenture and American Express, offered a total cash prize of US$250,000 (RM1.1 million)

The three top finalists will be selected in each of the five categories of the World’s Best School Awards, namely Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Addressing Challenges and Supporting Healthy Living.

The winner of each category that will be announced at World Education Week, from October 16 to October 21, will receive US$50,000 (RM220,075)
