SHAH ALAM, June 9 — Six Selangor districts are expected to undergo heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until later tonight, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
The districts include Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Kiang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat. Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Melaka will similarly experience inclement weather.
"Other states and areas which will see strong weather include Kedah (Kubang Pasu and Padang Terap) Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah and Kampar) and Pahang (Bentong and Bera)
"Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin) and Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru) will also be affected," it said in a statement issued at 5.55pm.
In East Malaysia, Limbang in Sarawak will experience strong weather whereas for Sabah, it is Pedalaman (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort) and Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang and Kota Kinabalu)
The weather pattern is expected to persist until 9pm.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
