SABAK BERNAM, June 5 — The free health screening programme Selangor Saring is carried out to create public awareness of early preventive measures for diseases.

Sekinchan state assemblyman Ng Suee Lim said most people had taken their health for granted as they get too occupied with work, which could be detrimental to their health.

“Through the state government’s initiative, we can detect these illnesses (early). Therefore, we get to prevent it and treat it, which would have a higher chance of recovery.

“Selangor has provided various incentives to the people, and this health programme is significant. We would not be capable of getting much done without a healthy body,” said Ng when met after overseeing the Selangor Saring programme in Sekinchan.

The Selangor Speaker also said that his office had helped spread awareness of the programme to the local communities.

“Many are still not aware that the screenings are free, so we continue making the announcements. The team from the service centre had also made their rounds to inform the public.

“We would like to see more people participating as we want to build a healthy society. The programme is for all,” he said.

The Selangor administration had allocated RM3.4 million for the Selangor Saring initiative, aiming to benefit 39,000 people, particularly those with a family history of chronic diseases, overweight individuals, or those leading unhealthy lifestyles.
