SHAH ALAM, May 10 — The district of Hulu Selangor can expect to see heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms until 8pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a statement released at 3.45pm, the agency said bad weather is also expected in Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik and Baling), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Jeli, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Besut and Setiu).

Inclement weather is also predicted to hit Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin), Johor (Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru) and Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom and Tambunan), Pantai Barat, Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat.
MetMalaysia issues a warning when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over the one-hour duration.
Thunderstorm warnings are short-term and are valid within six hours after it was issued.
