SHAH ALAM, May 2 — The second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri brings no relief from inclement weather as heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in two of Selangor's districts.
In a statement issued at 8.40pm, the Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said Kuala Langat and Sepang can expect to see strong weather until the early hours of the morning.
"Other states and territories where squally weather is also expected to occur include Perlis, Penang, Melaka, Hulu Perak in Perak and Besut in Terengganu.

"Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai) Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau) and Johor (Tangkak, Muar and Batu Pahat) will similarly be affected," it said.
In East Malaysia, Sarawak's affected areas include Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit) dan Kapit (Song, Kapit and Belaga) while for Sabah it is Pantai Barat (Ranau), Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu) dan Sandakan (Tongod and Telupid)
The strong weather is expected to last until 1am tomorrow morning (May 3)
The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
