Water disruption in Selangor, Putrajaya to fully recover tomorrow afternoon — Air Selangor

SHAH ALAM, April 30 — The unscheduled water disruption in 463 areas following the temporary shutdown of the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant (WTP) due to the diesel odour pollution incident, is expected to be fully recovered tomorrow afternoon.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement on Facebook tonight said the water flushing works and water treatment process at the WTP are underway and have reached 59 per cent as at 9pm.

“Water supply for the affected areas will be distributed in stages starting from 12.30am tomorrow (May 1).

“Water supply to the affected areas is expected to be fully restored at 3pm tomorrow (May 1),” said Air Selangor in the statement issued at 9pm.

The agency said the water supply recovery period differs from one area to another according to the distance of consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system.

At 5pm today, Air Selangor announced the forced shutdown of the Sungai Semenyih WTP that has resulted in unscheduled water supply disruptions for 463 areas in five regions.

The agency said the regions include Sepang (194), Petaling (172), Hulu Langat (54), Putrajaya (23), and Kuala Langat (20).

The WTP had to temporarily cease its operations at 12.15pm noon today after diesel odour pollution was detected at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station intake.
