SHAH ALAM, April 29 — The inclement weather in Selangor has receded somewhat as only two districts will experience heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until tonight, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement issued at 6.50pm, the agency said these districts include Hulu Selangor and Gombak.

"Elsewhere Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik and Baling) Perak (Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim) Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Bera, Pekan and Rompin) and Johor (Segamat and Kluang) will also be affected.

"In East Malaysia, Sarawak's affected areas include Kuching and Serian while in Sabah it is Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), Pantai Barat, Sandakan (Beluran) and Kudat. Labuan is similarly affected," it said.

The strong weather is expected to persist until 9pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
