SHAH ALAM, April 27 — Five districts in Selangor are expected to experience heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until later tonight, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a statement issued at 6.30pm, it said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang.
"Other areas and states which will also experience strong weather include Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Gua Musang in Kelantan and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan.
"Also affected is Kedah (Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) Pahang (Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin)
and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar and Kluang)" said the agency.
In East Malaysia, Sarawak's affected states include Sri Aman, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song) dan Limbang (Lawas) while in Sabah it is Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Keningau) and Sandakan (Tongod)
The inclement weather is expected to persist until 9pm.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
