SHAH ALAM, April 20 — The inclement weather seen in parts of Selangor earlier today will be concentrated in four districts until tonight, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a statement issued at 6.30pm, it said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Hulu Langat and Sepang.
"Elsewhere heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected at Gua Musang in Kelantan, Hulu Terengganu in Terengganu, Limbang in Sarawak and Labuan.
"Other states which will also see strong weather include Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim) Pahang (Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera) Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Jempol) Johor (Kluang, Kulai and Johor Bahru) and Sabah: Pedalaman, Pantai Barat (Papar, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud) and Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid and Beluran)" said the agency.
The squally weather is predicted to persist until 9pm.
The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
