SHAH ALAM, April 19 — Several parts of Selangor will see heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms for most of the afternoon, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a statement issued at 1pm, it said the affected districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat. The weather will persist until 4pm.
"Other states and territories which will also see inclement weather include Kuala Lumpur, Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim)
Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin) Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau) and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru)

"In East Malaysia, Sarawak's affected areas include Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman (Sri Aman), Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Sarikei), Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Kapit), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Miri and Marudi) dan Limbang. In Sabah they include Pantai Barat (Ranau), Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat (Kota Marudu)" said the agency.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
