SHAH ALAM, April 12 — Most of Selangor is expected to undergo heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds until later this evening, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a statement released at 3.10pm, the agency said Selangor's affected districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang. The weather is expected to persist until 6pm.
"Other states and localities which will also be affected by strong weather include Perak, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.

"Kedah (Langkawi, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) Terengganu (Besut and Setiu) Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub and Bentong) Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah and Jempol) and Johor (Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru) will also see inclement weather," it said.
For East Malaysia, MetMalaysia said Sarawak's affected areas include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Sarikei (Pakan, Julau and Meradong), Sibu, Mukah (Mukah), Kapit (Song, Kapit dan Bukit Mabong), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh), Miri (Marudi) and Limbang (Limbang).
The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
