MB: Civil servants need to prepare for future challenges

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, March 26 —Civil servants are urged to always be ready to face any challenges while performing their duties.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said they need to come out of their comfort zones and must not focus only on one area or field.

"Doing so will result in us not being able to help and complement each other, and when there is a crisis or disaster we will be in a state of unpreparedness.

"Therefore, we need to improve on this now in order to be ready for new challenges that can come at any time such as floods or pandemics," he said.

He said this while speaking at the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Excellent Service Award (APC) 2021 ceremony at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here last night.

Also, Amirudin explained that civil servants also need to be curious because it is the key to excellence in an organisation.

"There is no need to become a professor or a know-it-all person but nowadays we need to be aware of ourselves, others and the surrounding situation, because having this attitude will make us become more prepared," he said.

At the same time, Amirudin also congratulated the APC recipients including the retired staff for their contributions especially in helping to develop Selangor.

“Congratulations to MBSJ, its departments and staff on the efforts and role they have played in developing Selangor. Keep up the good effort and may your achievements inspire others,” he said.
