SHAH ALAM, March 24 — Four districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 5pm, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a warning issued at 2.30pm, MetMalaysia said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat
The agency also issued warnings of similar weather for Kuala Lumpur, Kedah (Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) and Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub and Bentong).
Meanwhile, strong weather has also been predicted for Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Sarawak: Sarikei (Meradong), Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu dan Dalat), Kapit (Song dan Kapit), Bintulu (Tatau) and Limbang, as well as in Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu dan Beaufort) and Pantai Barat (Papar, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran).
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
