SHAH ALAM, March 18 — The repair costs for roads damaged by last year’s floods stands at an estimated RM22.56 million, excluding slope strengthening work.

State executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said the cost was based on the initial assessment made by the Selangor Public Works Department (JKR) to repair the roads in five affected districts.

“The proposed road repair works in Selangor comes under the post-flood infrastructure rehabilitation programme that uses the allocation from the 2022 Marris (Malaysian Road Records Information System),” he said.

Izham was responding to a query from Permatang state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin on the repair of roads damaged by the floods in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting earlier today.

Elaborating further, Izham said the completed repair works include the collapsed road bank at Jalan Sungai Lu in Hulu Langat and the bridge on route B48 Jalan Sepang - Jenderam in Sepang.

He added repairs of the collapsed road bank at Jalan Rahidin 2, and Jalan Pekan Subang in Petaling began on February 15 and are currently ongoing.

Izham said most of the survey work, site investigation and road design in other affected areas have been completed and are awaiting implementation.
