SHAH ALAM, March 14 — Selangor state assemblymen have been urged to focus on issues related to their respective constituencies as decreed by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.
Selangor Speaker Ng Suee Lim said His Royal Highness had also reminded the state representatives to talk less about politics and focus on improving the people’s welfare.
“As a speaker, I would like to remind the assemblyman, either from the government or opposition, to focus on their respective areas. If they talk too much about politics and issues related to their respective political parties, their duty to the people will eventually fall to the wayside.
“At present, the people rely on the care and concern of their respective state representatives in these trying economic times,” he said.
Ng’s remarks come after the opening ceremony of the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly at the Annex Building earlier today.
During the royal address, Sultan Sharafuddin reminded the assemblymen to focus on improving the people’s living standards, subsequently developing Selangor’s economy and ensuring its prosperity.
His Royal Highness also decreed that the state representatives conduct their legislative debates more prudently, forward thoughtful topics for discussion, and provide accurate solutions for the people.
