SHAH ALAM, March 8 — The inclement weather in the state today has been predicted to further extend into the evening, as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued thunderstorm and heavy downpour warnings for six districts.
The districts include Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Sepang and Hulu Langat.
The warning was issued at 4.45pm and the bad weather is expected to last until 8pm.
The agency also forecasted similar weather patterns for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Perlis and Melaka.
Meanwhile, in other states bad weather is also predicted for Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar and Pokok Sena); Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Selatan), Perak (Larut, Matang and Kuala Kangsar); Pahang (Lipis, Raub and Jerantut); Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu and Seremban); and most areas in Sarawak including Kuching, Serian, Samarahan and Sri Aman).
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
