SHAH ALAM, March 1 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has tested positive for Covid-19, following a test conducted today.
His press secretary said Amirudin will undergo a seven-day self-quarantine, per the Health Ministry's protocol, and is expected to resume his duties on Tuesday, March 8.
"Dato' Menteri Besar apologises for the inconvenience resulting from this development, and asks anyone who has met with him in the past 48 hours to undergo the necessary Covid-19 screening.
"Let us pray for the health of Dato’ Seri Amirudin and his family, as well as for all those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. May Allah SWT continue to bless and protect us all," said the secretary.
On December 14 last year, Amirudin's wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad and two of their six children caught Covid-19, although he himself tested negative after a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
The Menteri Besar decided to nonetheless undergo self-quarantining as a precautionary measure, while waiting to undergo the second PCR test on December 16.
