SHAH ALAM, Feb 9 — The state government has allocated RM9 million on convertible education loans to help Selangor students further their studies.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said interest-free loans of between RM3,000 to RM7,000 were given to eligible students based on the courses offered to them.
He said currently the benefit is provided for local education and it would be expanded to more recipients including those who want to further their studies overseas.
“Today (February 8), we have handed over the offer letter to 117 recipients who have gone through the interview process in January to ensure that this assistance is being given to the right person,” he said when met at Dewan Jubli Perak, here yesterday.
Amirudin added all of the students are also entitled to get a free SIM card with free internet data for a year, as part of the efforts to facilitate their learning process.
“The students will further their studies in different ls including certificate level, diploma and degree. We are confident the efforts could help to ease the students’ affair,” he said.
