SHAH ALAM, Jan 28 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) wants to focus on modern farming as it marks its 50th anniversary.
Its chief executive officer Dr Mohamed Khairil Mohamad Razi said the state agency will shift towards the farming sector’s technology and digitalisation phase.
“We are implementing several phases of digitalisation in all levels of the farming sector, based on the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and real-time analysis.
“This means we will focus on modern farming method by utilising existing lands and using new technology, in order to help entrepreneurs,” he said.
Mohamed Khairil said this to the media during the PKPS Golden Jubilee celebration titled ‘Strengthening Modern Farming, Spearheading Selangor’s Economy’ at Wisma PKPS here yesterday.
Elaborating more on PKPS’s anniversary, he added the agency went through many changes, from a palm plantation organisation and into the commercial and marketing corporate sector.
“Insya-Allah (God willing) PKPS will become an agency that is not only a catalyst for the Selangor agro-food industry, but also gain the confidence of the state government to act as an agent in implementing initiatives for the people,” Mohamed Khairil said.
According to him, several programmes have been lined up in conjunction with PKPS’ 50th anniversary, such as the PKPS Gold Jubilee Run 2022, Selangor Fruit Valley Carnival, as well as fresh products sale.
