SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 — Approximately 25,464 tonnes of bulk waste caused by the recent heavy floods from December 17 to December 19 last year has been removed from areas under the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) as of yesterday.
It said an estimated 2,630 tonnes are removed everyday.

Based on an infographic post on Facebook, there are 21 areas under MBSA's jurisdiction which were affected by the floods, with 10 areas having since been cleaned up.
A total of 668 people are involved in cleaning the areas, including 93 from MBSA, 307 from KDEB Waste Management, and 268 volunteers.
The cleaning process involved 355 lorries and 94 backhoe loaders, which were used to remove all the garbage.
On December 31, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government spent approximately RM6 million to manage the post-flood waste.
He said Selangor needed between RM10 to RM20 million to resolve the cleaning and garbage collection process.
