SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — The state government will help repair mosques in Selangor that were damaged by the floods two weeks ago.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari informed the matter while performing Subuh prayer at Masjid Batu 14, Hulu Langat today.
“I have seen the damages caused by the floods. The mosque management said they are raising funds to replace the carpets, Insya Allah (God willing), we will assist.
"I was also made to understand that several other mosques in the flooded areas were also damaged, the state government will try to help," he posted on Facebook today.
Today, Amirudin is scheduled to go visit and clean up the Batu 16/17 and Taman Sri Nanding areas in Hulu Langat that were badly affected by the floods.
He will also hand over aid at the Kampung Orang Asli in Pekan Batu 18 and later hand over post-flood aid at the Sungai Serai temporary relief centre.
Torrential rain from December 17 until 19 resulted in double the rainfall compared to the previous high of 180 millimetres, which caused severe flooding in several locations in Selangor.
