Selangor allocates RM60 mln for flood mitigation works, says MB

SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — Selangor has set aside an allocation of RM60 million for the implementation of flood mitigation projects next year, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said the project is long-term planning to address and prevent the flooding issues in the state.

“For 2021, the amount allocated is almost the same as for 2022 which is around RM60 million. But we only spent about RM45 million due to the movement restrictions.

“We had also allocated an additional amount of RM40 million for 2021, but a bulk of it is for long-term projects,” he said in an interview on Bernama Radio this morning.

The recent continuous downpour from December 17 to 19, which saw the highest rainfall ever recorded in Selangor, had caused extensive flooding throughout the state.
