SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — The Selangor government has provided 5,000 Covid-19 self-test kits, to be distributed to temporary relief centres (PPS) throughout the state.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this is to ensure the potential of a Covid-19 outbreak among flood victims in the PPS can be prevented.
“This is also to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) as well as to isolate those who have been infected with the coronavirus,” he said on Twitter.
On Saturday, the state government directed all related agencies to help those affected by the flooding, including relocating them to PPS.
Other than providing the victims with basic necessities including clothes, food, and a confined space for each family in the PPS, the state government will also conduct free Covid-19 screening.
As of now, the number of flood victims in Selangor has fallen to 29,024, currently in 192 PPS.
Large-scale flooding occurred in several areas throughout Selangor, due to the increased rainfall by two-fold from December 17 to December 19. The previous highest rainfall recorded was 180mm.
