SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — About 400 power substations that are still not operational have affected the process of draining and channelling floodwaters to nearby rivers and large ditches, says Izham Hashim.

The state executive councillor for infrastructure said the temporary shut down of the electrical substations have affected housing areas, factories and water pumps that were hit by the recent floods in the state.

“The main problem is the electricity supply. Yesterday, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) had informed that of 1,000 electrical substations in Selangor, 400 substations have yet to resume operations,” he said in a video on Facebook.

Izham said the water pumping work in the affected areas had already commenced two days ago.

“We have received several water pumps from various parties including the Federal government and it will be used to channel floodwaters to nearby rivers and large ditches.

“These water pumps were sent to the affected areas including Jalan Kebun Bunga, Batu Tiga and Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam and pumping works began on Monday (December 20) night.

“In Klang alone, 56 water pumps were being used for that purpose,” he said.
