SHAH ALAM, Dec 18 — The public are urged to remain vigilant following the latest warning of continuous heavy downpour in Selangor which will last until tomorrow, says Menteri Besar.
“The latest warning by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) expects heavy rain to continue in Selangor. Take precautionary measures,” Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari posted on Twitter today.
MetMalaysia has issued dangerous weather or red level warning of continuous heavy downpour in several districts in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur today.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the areas affected in Selangor include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Hulu Langat.
The department also issued a red level warning on Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier, the Selangor government has deployed all related agencies to assist residents who were affected by the flash floods following a heavy downpour since yesterday.
Amirudin said emergency assistance will be given immediately to the victims through a collaboration with the local councils as well as the Land and District Office.
“As of now, a total of 33 temporary relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
