KLANG, Dec 11 — The Selangor government allocated a total of RM23.2 million for infrastructure assistance to 637 schools throughout the state this year.

The allocation had benefitted the Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC), Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Cina (SMJKC), Sekolah Menengah Persendirian Cina (SMPC) and Sekolah Mubaligh.

The funding made via online transfer also covered Sekolah Agama Rakyat (SAR) and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT), said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

"The assistance was distributed based on the needs of the school by taking into account the number of students and the current situation according to the application form that needs to be completed," he said.

He said this after handing over aid amounting to RM9 million to 137 SJKC, SMJKC, SMPC and Sekolah Mubaligh at SMPC Ping Hwa here today.

Amirudin said the school assistance programme would still be continued despite the country facing the Covid-19 pandemic in order to strengthen the state's education sector.

“The education sector is very much talked about in the mainstream media and social media, whether on teachers, school infrastructure, teaching content and learning.

"Thus the state government has taken the initiative to help complete the school infrastructure so that students can study in a comfortable and conducive environment," he said.
