Budget 2022: Govt to allocate RM24 mln to tackle malnutrition issue among urban poor kids

SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — The federal government will allocate RM24 million to help tackle malnutrition issues among Malaysia’s urban poor children.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz it will be spent on three programmes, namely the Community Feeding Programme, Programme for the Rehabilitation of Malnourished Children (PPKZM), and Human Milk Bank.

For the Community Feeding Programme, it will be expanded to children from poor families in Selangor, Johor, Pulau Pinang, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, with the aim of providing additional food, five times a week, to 100 children aged one to six.

“The government will also expand the scope of recipients for PPKZM, which will benefit over 1,100 children.

“Additionally the allocation also will be used to establish Human Milk Bank for premature babies in Neonatal Care Unit involving hospitals in Pulau Pinang, Johor, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak,” he said during the Budget 2022 tabling in Dewan Rakyat, today.
