HULU KELANG, Oct 18 — The rise of vaccination rates in the country has raised hopes it will be able to curb Covid-19 outbreaks at school.
Nonetheless, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said everyone must continue to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the schooling environment remains safe.
“We will stick to the schedule on the reopening of education institutions, in accordance with the vaccination rate. If we have yet to complete the vaccination programme, it would be difficult for us to overcome the outbreak.
“At the same time, the SOPs must be prioritised as we do not want to repeat previous mistakes in which the public failed to adhere to SOPs when schools were reopened,” he said when met after visiting the Taman Melawati police station site yesterday.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said the number of teachers who refused to be vaccinated in Selangor is relatively small.
“Not significant...but we will take action, we want to prevent such attitudes in the community,” he said.
Yesterday the Education Ministry announced the educational institution operation in Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Melaka will take place on November 1.
Earlier on, the ministry had informed that the educational institutions in states which have been moved to the next phase of the NRP must begin their operation two weeks after the transitional period.
